Our Services

Transition

After you are released, the PACE/OAR staff will help you develop a quality resume and connect you to job leads, as well as provide referrals to partner agencies who can provide clothing, food, substance abuse counseling, housing, and other services.

Employment

PACE/OAR develops relationships with employers who are willing to consider hiring employees with felony convictions. This means that the only job leads that we provide to you will not automatically say "NO" because of your criminal history. We match your skills and experience with the requirements of employers. In addition to job leads, we can also connect you to education programs like GED programs, job training and college.

Program Service

Overview

Job Readiness Training: Our curriculum was created around the needs of ex-offenders. All core components of employability are discussed during our workshop, while emphasizing any and all barriers which affect the ex-offender population. Completion of the workshop ensures that each participant is armed with the necessary tools to successfully sell themselves to an employer.

Job Club: The objective is to give participants a forum to discuss their job search; exchange information; and obtain new employment leads from our Employment Developer. Participants are also given the opportunity to review skills learned in the job readiness training.

Resume Workshop: Participants are given the opportunity to create or update their resume in our Resource Center with assistance from PACE/OAR staff. Our staff are on hand to answer any questions and assist the participants in utilizing the resume format that best suits their skills and employment history.

Career Counseling: Participants receive career counseling after the completion of the job readiness workshop. Career counseling is given throughout their participation in the program. Since each participant is different and in turn has different barriers, our services are provided on an individual basis to ensure all barriers are addressed prior to becoming gainfully employed.

Job Placement: The PACE/OAR Employment Developer fosters relationships with employers that are willing to accept persons with felony convictions. Upon review of the participant's resume and criminal history, the Employment Developer is able to provide leads that fit both the skill and felony conviction of each participant.

Resource Center: The Resource Center is open five days a week. Participants are able to access computers in the Resource Center to conduct job searches; complete online applications, etc. The Resource Center Coordinator is on hand to assist participants as needed. Various workshops are offered in the Resource Center, including, but not limited to, financial literacy, parenting classes, and peer support groups. In addition GED/ABE instruction is available through IPS Adult Education five days per week as well as two evenings per week.

HIV/AIDS Outreach & Awareness, Counseling, and Testing: All participants are afforded the opportunity to receive free HIV/AIDS testing, counseling and outreach services.

Wrap Around Case Management: Follow-up contact is required for all active participants. Participants are encouraged to contact their case manager weekly or more frequently as needed. If contact is not made by the participant, the case manager will follow-up through telephone contact, home visits, employer site visits, and correspondence sent to clients via mail. Follow-up is essential to track the success of both the participant and the program as a whole.

Other services may be available depending on resources. Please contact us with questions about your specific situation.
