This is a poem written by one our clients that has recently sought our services. He was so inspired by the services and the treatment he had received from our organization, he felt motivated to put his feelings on paper in the form of an inspirational poem. We hope that you will enjoy it as much as we did:

Every since 1960, O.A.R. and P.A.C.E. has gone out of their way
To help the brotherhood
And if you interested in using their resources, I really think you should

Don’t you know they take the residue that’s left of
A woman and a man
And give them hope, a new life and also another chance

You see, after the government ejects an individual
From prison
It’s O.A.R. and P.A.C.E. that reprograms these people
And set them on positive missions

They open doors for the people that society
Cast aside
And I’m an ex-felon, not a member, to let you know this isn’t a lie

I was taught as a child to give credit when
It is due
And I know if it wasn’t for O.A.R. and P.A.C.E.,
My life would have been through

So I suggest that anybody who’s looking for
Another chance to live
O.A.R. and P.A.C.E. has based their foundation on
Looking for ways to give

So if you have lost everything, your hopes, your
Family or even your home
It won’t do you no wrong to make your way to 2855 N. Keystone.

I've Changed

By: Christian Morris

My past was something that put my family through a lot. It all started when I was eight years old. In addition to being in and out of juvenile eleven times, I was also in Koala and Charter. I went to boy school for eleven months and nine days. After I got out of boy school, I stayed out of trouble for awhile until I was arrested and served 3 years, 7 months and 21 days in jail. I was released from jail 5 months ago on September 7, 2007. While serving my time I realized that it was time to make some changes within myself so that I can get my life together.

My experience in the YES program at PACE/OAR, is one of the best experiences I have had with any program dealing with ex-offenders, like myself. My case manager, Mr. Hughes helped me with job leads, bus fare, and more. I can see that he and the other people at PACE/OAR and the YES program really care about people with convictions. The program has helped me get a job so I can save money and get me a car in a month they also taught me the skills needed to obtain and maintain a job.

My life is going good right now. I see my life coming together piece by piece. Soon I will have a car and I plan on going back to school for culinary arts. I enjoy cooking and I want to make a career out of it one day. Right now I am working fulltime and I would like to look for a job where I can work nights so I can attend school during the day.

My word of advice is to give it time, like I have and things will work out for you. I have learned that the results that I want will not come fast and easy, but with time, patience, dedication, and determination all things are possible.

Live United: PACE/OAR and Christian Morris
